How to Host the Perfect S'mores Party for Groups

How to Host the Perfect S'mores Party for Groups

S'mores aren't just a campfire treat — they're an experience. The toasting, the dipping, the inevitable marshmallow disaster. There's something about gathering around a fire with friends that makes everything taste better.

Whether you're planning a Birthday Party, garden party, a summer BBQ, a Family celebration, or even a wedding, a s'mores station is one of the easiest ways to create a moment your guests will actually remember. Here's everything you need to pull it off.

How many s'mores do you need per person?

As you'd expect this really depends on the age of the Kids or if there's a mix of Kids and Adults.

A good rule of thumb is that 1-2 S'mores per child for a casual party, and 2-4 S'mores if s'mores are the main event rather than a side activity. Don't forget there's 7 different toppings and multiple combination possibilities...so guests will want to test a few combo's...  Obviously Adults will probably have a few more over the course of the party / event, so typically 4-6 per person would be a great start.

So for a group of 8-12 kids, plan for around 16 to 24 s'mores. For larger groups of kids 12 to 20 guests, you're looking at 36–48 S'mores. It sounds like a lot, but trust us — people always go back for more, especially when they see everyone else's creative combinations!

That's exactly why we created the S'moresboard Party Pack in two sizes: the JUMBO (makes 25 s'mores) for smaller gatherings say 6-12, and the MEGA (makes 50 s'mores) for bigger crowds.

What do you need for a S'mores station?

The classic s'more needs just three things: marshmallows, chocolate, and biscuits. But a great s'mores station goes a little further:

  • Marshmallows — essential but make sure they don't drip too much and retain some texture when toasting
  • Chocolate — Belgian milk chocolate is classic, but dark and white work well too
  • Biscuits — sweet crunchy biscuits work best although digestives are a good back up & classic American graham crackers are the Purist's option but are a little salty for kids (in Our opinion)
  • Toppings - elevate the S'mores experience with a choice of Sprinkles, flavoured toppings (Biscoff, Oreo Crumb or both?) - try adding some chopped fresh fruit
  • Toasting Skewers — or forks if using with a Fire Pit, ideally one per person
  • A heat source — an indoor Marshmallow Toaster is perfect for indoor / outdoor use but a Fire Pit & BBQ will work well for Outdoor gatherings
  • A board or tray — or Liner to lay everything out beautifully

Our S'moresboard Party Pack includes everything you need - even the Marshmallow Toaster's  — handpicked ingredients, beautifully presented and ready to go.

Weddings & celebrations
S'mores stations are increasingly popular at evening receptions. They're relaxed, interactive, and work beautifully as a late-night treat when the dance floor needs a break.

Corporate events & team days
Nothing breaks the ice like a shared toasting experience. S'mores stations work brilliantly for outdoor team days, summer socials, and client events.

How to set up a s'mores board

A well-laid s'mores board looks impressive but takes minutes to put together:

  1. Start with your base — use a liner or large wooden board, slate, or tray
  2. Group your ingredients — keep marshmallows, chocolate, and biscuits in separate sections - we like using the biscuits as edging and then creating zones
  3. Add small bowls — for dips, toppings, or extras like crushed biscuits or sprinkles
  4. Label everything — especially useful if you have dietary variations (vegan marshmallows, dark chocolate, etc.)
  5. Place toasting forks nearby — fanned out looks great and keeps things organised
  6. Add a personal touch — a small card with toasting tips or flavour combinations goes a long way

The key is making it look abundant and inviting. People eat with their eyes first.
